The concept of this work originates from a casual conversation, “Mom, have you seen where my another slipper is?” capturing a lighthearted moment of searching for a lost item in family life. The composition features a vibrant red woven texture as the background, with a blue-purple and teal slipper shape at the center, representing the single slipper being sought. The slipper stands in stark contrast to the background, emphasizing its unique presence. The creative intent is to depict a small episode of daily life, with the solitary slipper symbolizing the common experience of loss and searching, while the red background evokes the warmth and comfort of home. The delicate woven texture adds a handmade coziness, resonating with viewers’ memories of family interactions. The artwork uses simple elements to convey humor and authenticity, with the lone slipper’s shape seemingly calling out, forming a silent dialogue with the implied response of the mother, showcasing the poetic and intimate essence of everyday life.

My enthusiasm for art originates from my practice of punch needling and hand embroidery as mediums. Using needle, yarn and thread, I explore the close bond between individuals and objects, transforming everyday scenes and mindsets into durable resilient embroidered images. I craft tender feelings, illustrating the stillness of life. These layered fiber act as both a personal shield and a soft counter to external complexities. I reinterpret ordinary objects and leave the contours of memories on fabric, creating a subtle tension between the familiar and the unfamiliar in the interplay of threads or yarn. My creations bring daily occurrences to light within the repetitive texture of needlecraft—those overlooked fragments of life, quiet sentiments. Every loop in the process holds a narrative, enabling me to uncover new perspectives through repeated motions and sense how art transforms the mundane into the eternal.
