Scenic Beauty: Chan Kai’s Poetic Landscape Paintings Exhibition”

Tung Gallery is pleased to present the latest solo exhibition by Hong Kong artist Chan Kai. This exhibition focuses on her recent contemporary abstract ink landscape paintings, showcasing her profound transformation and modern interpretation of traditional splashed-color and splashed-ink techniques.

As a student of the master painter Liu Haisu, Chan Kai’s work represents an ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity, figuration and abstraction. In this series, her “controlled chance” plashed-color technique serves as a projection of her inner state: seeking order amidst chaos and capturing tranquility within the flow.

In today’s tumultuous times, Chan Kai’s paintings offer a spiritual haven. We cordially invite you to experience the vibrant flow of energy and, amidst the varying textures and shades of ink, rediscover your inner connection with nature and yourself.

In Chinese art history, the horse has long symbolized vitality, speed, and the perseverance of the scholar-gentleman. Kwok Ti Hong reinvigorates this lineage
with Silent Thunder, a series that prioritizes emotional resonance over rigid realism.

Kwok’s brush moves with the speed of his subjects. His ink is fluid, creating "ink shadows" that suggest musculature and mane without being bound by them. Whether rendered in stark monochrome or touched with subtle washes of blue and ochre, these creatures are alive. They embody a "Silent Thunder"—a latent power that seems ready to break free from the two-dimensional surface at any moment. This exhibition is an ode to freedom and the enduring power of the equine spirit.
