Silent Thunder - Kwok Ti Hong · 墨影奔騰 郭迪康

We are proud to present Silent Thunder · 墨影奔騰, a solo exhibition by the acclaimed artist Kwok Ti Hong. This collection represents a masterful dialogue between the ancient tradition of Chinese ink wash painting and a kinetic, modern sensibility.

The title, "Silent Thunder," captures the central paradox of Kwok’s work: the ability to convey explosive, deafening energy through a silent, static medium. In these works, the horse is not merely a subject of anatomical study, but a vessel for raw spirit and unbridled momentum. Kwok utilizes the "boneless" technique and rapid, gestural brushwork to dissolve the physical weight of the animal into pure motion.

Viewers will encounter the concept of Qi (breath or spirit) manifested in ink. The horses leap, rear, and gallop across the void of the paper, their forms defined as much by the negative space around them as by the ink itself. From the thundering collective of a stampede to the solitary nobility of a rearing stallion, Kwok Ti Hong captures the fleeting moment where power transforms into grace.

"Silent Thunder" invites the audience to listen with their eyes—to feel the reverberation of hooves and the rush of wind captured within the masterful, sweeping strokes of the artist's brush.
